Elysian Fields is an American band based in Brooklyn, New York, founded in 1995 by the co-composers Jennifer Charles (vocals, instruments) and Oren Bloedow (guitar). Their music has sometimes been described as "noir rock". I consider them avant garde. This song, "Lady in the Lake" is chilling, haunting, sedating, hypnotic, and exciting. Most of their work consists of using styles and images to portray a darker side of existence.
Based in New York City, Elysian Fields have found underground success in the United States but are more popular in Europe. They have collaborated with such artists as Book of Knots another NYC experimental rock band and also Mike Patton who has been involved experimental alternative metal/alternative rock bands such as Tomahawk, Fantômas, Lovage, Mr. Bungle and best known for Faith No More.
